Application to Attend the Future Internet Architecture Summit

Applying to Participate in the Future Internet Architecture Summit

Up to 120 participants will be invited to participate in the Future Internet Architectures Summit. Applicants must complete and submit the Expression of Interest (EoI) form found at the end of this document in order to be considered for participation. Answers to the questions posed on the form will be used to determine who will be selected to participate in the Summit. No additional documentation will be accepted. The completed Expression of Interest form should be submitted via the form below by 4 p.m. local submitter's time on September 16, 2009. Please note that late submissions will not be considered. Successful applicants will receive their invitation to participate in the Summit by September 30, 2009.

You must be eligible for NSF funding to attend. Please refer to the Grant Proposal Guide at http://www.nsf.gov/pubs/policydocs/pappguide/nsf09_1/gpg_index.jsp. Participants must commit to attending all four days of the event.

Evaluation Criteria

The Expressions of Interest will be assessed by a Selection Panel of NSF and possibly other Government program officers, who will seek to ensure that a balance of expertise is present at the Summit. The assessments will be based on the following criteria:

  • Scientific contributions the candidate is likely to make to discussions about Future Internet architectures;
  • Applicant's ability to "think architecturally", i.e., to see how components fit into a whole and how they interact;
  • Applicant's ability to contribute to the conceptualization of new and highly original research ideas;
  • Applicant's ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary setting and contribute effectively across disciplines and/or areas of expertise as well as across academe and industry.

Please note that because of the large number of Expressions of Interest expected, CISE will not be able to provide individual feedback to unsuccessful applicants.
