Temporary Change in Director, OCI

Dear All,

NSF Director Arden Bement announced yesterday that effective September 1, I will become acting NSF Assistant Director (AD) for Mathematics and Physical Sciences (MPS) while a nation-wide search is conducted to replace Dr. Tony Chan, who will be leaving NSF to accept the presidency of the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology.

I agreed to assist NSF during this transition period, during which time Dr. José Muñoz will assume the position of the Acting Director, Office of Cyberinfrastructure (OCI).

I want to assure you all that I continue to be fully behind the activities of OCI, and will in particular continue to be the Designated Federal Official (DFO) for the NSF Advisory Committee for Cyberinfrastructure (ACCI) during this time period. José and I will stay in close contact about OCI developments, and I will return to assume the position of OCI Director when the new AD for MPS starts.

I look forward to continue working with the community to further the goals we have set together to advance science and engineering through development and application of cyberinfrastructure, both while I am at MPS and also when I return to OCI.

Best,

Ed

Edward Seidel

Director, Office of Cyberinfrastructure, National Science Foundation
