Teachers Strike Scientific Gold at Kitt Peak

The Spiral Galaxy M51, with supernova.

After realizing that they had imaged a supernova, the TLRBSE teachers made further images of M51 using the WIYN 0.9-meter telescope, producing the image above. The new supernova can be seen inside the circle.
