TIE Projects

TIE Project Submission Window: February 1 to March 1 annually.

A TIE project is an unsolicited request for supplemental funding that proposes a research project between Industry/University Cooperative Research Centers (I/UCRC). Both I/UCRCs must have identical membership agreements with respect to IP and must agree to share the results and benefits coming from the collaborative research project with their center members.

TIE supplement requests must have a title on the first page that starts with "TIE:" so as to distinguish it from regular center proposals or other requests for supplemental funding. The I/UCRC program will consider TIE projects for up to $100,000 ($50,000 for each center). TIE supplement requests are only considered for complete projects with specified deliverables upon project completion. The request for supplemental funding should identify any other funds to be used in the project as appropriate.

A request for supplemental funding for a international TIE project may be considered when the request addresses IP issues, copyrights, and publication delays that could result from the international research partnership. NSF could provide up to $50,000 for use by the U.S. site.

The I/UCRC program does not fund workshops.
