DEPUTY DIVISION DIRECTOR
DIRECTORATE FOR ENGINEERING

The NSF Directorate for Engineering (ENG) is seeking qualified candidates for the position of Deputy Division Director, who serves as the principal advisor to the Division Director and participates fully with the Division Director in overall management of the division.

The Directorate for Engineering promotes the progress of engineering in the United States in order to build the Nation's capacity for technological innovation and economic growth, and to enhance Americans’ health and quality of life. With investments of approximately $800 million annually, the Directorate supports fundamental research across engineering fields and spurs technology transfer and industry collaboration.

Within the Directorate for Engineering, Deputy Division Director positions are open in the following three (3) divisions: the Division of Electrical, Communications and Cyber Systems; the Division of Engineering Education and Centers; and the Division of Industrial Innovation and Partnerships.

Responsibilities of the Deputy Division Director include: helping develop overall goals and objectives and in the planning and direction of division activities; participating in budget preparation and justification; providing broad scientific and engineering guidance across the division’s disciplinary domains; representing division programs and interests to senior officials in government, academia, industry and other sectors; coordinating the division’s scientific and engineering activities within NSF and with other agencies and organizations; and assisting the Division Director on both a policy and scientific level on issues, initiatives, and other matters pertaining to the division.

This Senior Executive Service (SES) position has a salary range of $157,000 to $174,100. DIVISION DIRECTOR, DIVISION OF INDUSTRIAL INNOVATION AND PARTNERSHIPS
DIRECTORATE FOR ENGINEERING

The NSF Directorate for Engineering (ENG) seeks a candidate for the position of Division Director, Division of Industrial Innovation and Partnerships.

The Division of Industrial Innovation and Partnerships (IIP) serves the entire Foundation by fostering partnerships to advance technological innovation and plays an important role in the public-private innovation enterprise. IIP seeks to successfully invest in science and engineering research across all disciplines that has the potential for high impact in meeting national and societal needs. To achieve this goal, IIP focuses on leveraging federal, small business, industrial, university, state and community college resources.

The Division Director, Division of Industrial Innovation and Partnerships, leads a team of program directors in managing a broad portfolio of fostering partnerships to advance technological innovations, and plays an important role in the public-private innovation partnership enterprise. Together, they position and advocate program activities within the context of NSF's strategic plan and manage resources effectively to nurture emerging opportunities as well as ongoing efforts. They work proactively across NSF and in partnership with other Federal and State agencies, industry, private foundations and the academic community. The position represents a challenging opportunity to provide intellectual leadership and to effect constructive change.

This Senior Executive Service (SES) position may be on a career basis or on a one- to three-year limited-term basis, with a salary range of $157,000 to $176,200.
