The United States Antarctic Program introduces a new Web site designed to serve all program participants, as well as the public, teachers, and students. Located at www.usap.gov, this site replaces www.polar.org.
Through this new site, the Office of Polar Programs offers a more effective method of communicating program-wide information to become the definitive voice of the USAP. Finding accurate and timely information for conducting business regarding U.S. antarctic research now becomes more intuitive and efficient.
The site also has been designed as the foundation for a USAP Portal, which will eventually unify all of the Program’s Web content, including the intranets at the U.S. antarctic stations.
Current users of http://www.polar.org/ should note that this site, with a general redirect message on the home page, has been replaced by www.rpsc.raytheon.com. For U.S. Antarctic Program information, users should go to www.usap.gov; for Raytheon Polar Services business (primarily RPSC employment opportunities.), users should go to www.rpsc.raytheon.com.
The purpose of the change is to encourage greater use of the Web to share information and increase collaboration among all program participants, as well as to streamline e-business transactions within the program. Please feel free to forward comments and suggestions to firstname.lastname@example.org. This link is found on the contact page of the new site.
