U.S. Participants > Logistics Organizations
Logistics are vital to conducting large-scale scientific programs in the remote polar regions. Civilian contractors and military units--including the New York Air National Guard, the U.S. Air Force, Coast Guard and Navy--have all played a role over the years in expanding the frontiers of science in the Arctic and Antarctic.
The links below lead to Web sites maintained by military units and contractors who carry out tasks as diverse as flying airplanes to the South Pole and deep field camps, providing information-technology support, building and maintaining scientific stations and cooking nourishing meals for hundreds of workers at a time.
There is a separate page on this site that provides links to employment opportunities with civilian contractors.
