FAST-ACT (Image 1)

This image shows how responders can use FAST-ACT to decontaminate interior spaces. When sprayed from a canister or spread over a spill, the material grabs onto and rapidly breaks apart such deadly materials as VX nerve gas and sulfuric acid. FAST-ACT was developed by Kansas State University chemist Kenneth Klabunde, with support from the National Science Foundation.
