Mining Microbial Genomes

This image is the result of DNA gel electrophoresis which is a routine molecular biology technique.

It was taken as part of research on mining microbial genomes for novel antibiotics, conducted at the Institute for Genomic Biology at the University of Illinois. The research was supported by a National Science Foundation CAREER Award (BES 03-48107) in the laboratory of professor Huimin Zhao. (Date of Image: April 2004)
