Simulation of Oil Flow Through Water

Simulation in 3-D of oil flow through water, based on computational fluid dynamics simulations


This is an immersive simulation--in 3-D made, from 2-D--of oil flow through water, based on computational fluid dynamics simulations. The "ribbons" show oil particles; color and thickness indicate movement. This simulation, created as part of research following the Deepwater Horizon oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico, was created at the Scientific Visualization Laboratory at the Louisiana State University Center for Computation and Technology (CCT).
