Marvin L. Cohen, 2001 National Medal of Science medalist, discusses how his research career developed, including the integration of computing, which led to his creation and application of quantum theory for explaining and predicting the properties of materials. This is core to semiconductor physics and nanoscience, today a burgeoning field.
