Photo of high school students building a ROV.

Students from Jesuit High School in Carmichael, Calif., traveled to Labrador, Canada, to compete in an international competition with a remotely operated vehicle (ROV) they built themselves. The student's ROV was designed to operate underwater and to perform specific tasks, such as removing a well head on a submerged oil rig. This is an example of a program that aims to develop the STEM skills of talented and highly motivated students.
