Students observe a 3-D projection of an aircraft engine at the South Carolina Advanced Technological Education (SC ATE) center. SC ATE, based at Florence-Darlington Technical College, in Florence, S.C., is funded by the National Science Foundation (NSF) through its Advanced Technological Education (ATE) program. SC ATE is dedicated to expanding excellence in technician education and increasing the quantity, quality and diversity of engineering technology graduates to support business and industry and to encourage continued economic development.

The Florida Advanced Technological Education Center (FLATE), an NSF Center of Excellence in high technology manufacturing, is administratively based at Hillsborough Community College in Tampa, Fla. FLATE provides exemplary industry partnerships, workforce opportunity and educational synergy throughout the state of Florida by connecting industry and workforce needs to targeted educational endeavors at 14 community and state colleges across Florida.
