In April 2008, the Lonestar supercomputer at the Texas Advanced Computing Center in Austin performed laser surgery on a dog in Houston, without the intervention of a surgeon. The procedure was the culmination of three years of research and development into the algorithms, computer codes, imaging technology and cyberinfrastructure. Full Story
