Gossip in the Workplace: A Weapon or Gift, Says New Research From IU

Gossip in the workplace can be a weapon in reputational warfare or a gift, and can offer clues to power and influence not found on organizational charts. New research from Indiana University details how the weapon is wielded--and its influence muted--in a rare study that catches this national pastime on video. The National Science Foundation (NSF) is an independent federal agency that supports fundamental research and education across all fields of science and engineering. In fiscal year (FY) 2012, its budget was $7.0 billion. NSF funds reach all 50 states through grants to nearly 2,000 colleges, universities and other institutions.
