 News From the Field Butterfly Vision, Wing Colors Linked, UCI Study Finds

Butterfly experts have suspected for more than 150 years, that vision plays a key role in explaining wing color diversity. Now, for the first time, research led by University of California, Irvine, biologists proves this theory true--at least in nine Heliconius species.

The National Science Foundation (NSF) is an independent federal agency that supports fundamental research and education across all fields of science and engineering.
