Dr. Anupama B. Kaul joins ECCS as the new Program Director in Electronics, Photonics and Magnetic Devices (EPMD).

Dr. Kaul joins NSF as an IPA from the Jet Propulsion Labs (JPL), CalTech where she managed interdisciplinary research programs in nanomaterials and devices for sensing, electronics and optical applications.  She obtained her B.S. in Physics with Honors, and her M.S. and Ph.D. degrees were in Materials Science and Engineering from UC Berkeley (minors in EE and Physics). 

Prior to JPL she was at Motorola Labs where she conducted research on RF-MEMS switches and components derived from organic materials on flexible substrates.  She has also been an R&D Engineer at Hewlett-Packard in the area of ink-jet MEMS technology.  Dr. Kaul has 6 NASA Patent Awards, a NASA Team Accomplishment Award, 9 issued and pending patents, and several invited book chapters on nanoscale science and technology, in addition to more than 60 journal and conference publications. 

She is active in chairing conferences for the IEEE, SPIE and has served on the program review committee of the Nanotech Conference and Expo (NSTI).  Dr. Kaul is a Senior Member of the IEEE and is currently the American Editor of Nanoscience and Nanotechnology Letters, Associate Editor of Reviews in Advanced Sciences and Engineering, Editorial Board Member of the Journal of Nanoengineering and Nanomanufacturing and the Open Process Chemistry Journal.
