In rainforests, battle for sunlight shapes forest structure

Researchers have discovered that competition for sunlight among rainforest trees leads to the remarkably consistent pattern of tree sizes seen in tropical forests around the globe. The finding, published in the journal Science, could help refine models of how rainforests absorb carbon dioxide and hold back rising global temperatures.Full Story
