Researchers demonstrate hybrid material that can perform pattern recognition

Researchers for the first time have demonstrated a synthetic material that can perform computations without external energy inputs, amplification or computer mediation. Those computations allow it to recognize simple patterns. The responsive, hybrid material, powered by its own chemical reactions, could one day be integrated into clothing and used to monitor the human body, or developed as a skin for "squishy" robots.Full Story
