Instrumentation technology

Pictured are a satellite system orbiting the earth and facilitating communication between Barrow, Alaska, Seattle, Washington, and Boulder, Colorado; one image depicts a torpedo-like data gathering device; and the third picture shows micron-scale gears (the gears are not yet used in Arctic research technologies, but show technological advance).
