National Science Board to Meet Aug. 10-11
August 5, 2005
The National Science Board (NSB) will hold its 387th meeting Aug. 10-11, 2005, at the National Science Foundation (NSF) headquarters, 4201 Wilson Blvd., Arlington, Va. This is one of NSB's regular meetings related to general national science and engineering policy issues of interest and specific NSF activities.

Highlights of open sessions include:
Aug. 10
- Subcommittee on Polar Issues, 7:30-8:30 a.m., room 1235 (South Pole Station status report; icebreaker availability; preparations for International Polar Year)
- Subcommittee on Science and Engineering Indicators, 8:30-10:30 a.m., room 1235 (S&E Indicators for 2006)
- Committee on Education and Human Resources, 10:30-12:30 p.m., room 1235 (update on Math and Science Partnership program)
- Joint session of the Committee on Strategy and Budget and the Committee on Programs and Plans 1:30-2:15 p.m., room 1235 (balance of centers and individual investigator support; funding rates; award size and duration)
Aug. 11
- Committee on Programs and Plans, 7:45-8:30 a.m., room 1235 (cyberinfrastructure vision)
- Committee on Strategy and Budget, 10:30-11:00 a.m., room 1235 (status of FY 2006 budget request to Congress)
In addition, the board will hold a special workshop from 8:30 a.m.-5:30 p.m. on Aug. 12, entitled, "Understanding Transformative Research Programs at the National Science Foundation" in room 1235. The public is welcome.
