National Science Board to Meet August 9-10

August 7, 2006

The National Science Board (NSB) will hold its 393rd meeting Aug. 9-10, 2006, at the National Science Foundation (NSF) headquarters, 4201 Wilson Blvd., Arlington, Va.This is one of NSB's regular meetings related to general national science and engineering policy issues of interest and specific NSF activities.

Media representatives are invited to attend all open sessions, subject to provisions of the Government in the Sunshine Act. The full meeting agenda is available at http://nsf.gov/nsb/meetings/2006/0809/index.htm

Highlights of open sessions include:

Weds., Aug. 9
  • Hurricane Science and Engineering Discussion of Draft Report (Committee on Programs and Plans Task Force on Hurricane Science and Engineering, 9:15-10:00 a.m., room 1235)
  • Cyberinfrastructure Vision, Status of the Petascale System Acquisition (Committee on Programs and Plans, 11:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m., room 1235)

Thurs., Aug. 10

  • Discussion of NSF Strategic Plan FY 2006-2011 (Committee on Strategy and Budget, 11:00-11:30 a.m., room 1235)
  • Open Plenary Session, 1:30-3:30 p.m., room 1235
