Fen Zhao

Dr. Fen Zhao
AAAS Fellow
Directorate for Computer & Information Science & Engineering
Division of Computing and Communication Foundations
Class of 2012

Dr Zhao’s work at the NSF are in the fields of advanced computational infrastructure, telecom, big data, next
generation networking, and computationally enabled sustainability science. Prior to starting her AAAS
Fellowship, Dr. Zhao was an associate with the consulting firm McKinsey & Company, focusing on risk
management for federal financial institutions.  Dr. Zhao conducted her Ph.D. research in computational
astrophysics at Stanford University, at the Kavli Institute for Particle Astrophysics and Cosmology.
She graduated as an undergraduate at MIT, studying algorithmic quantum computing.
