AAAS Fellow Biography

Nature McGinn

Dr. Nature McGinn
AAAS Fellow
Office of Polar Programs
Class of 2013

Nature McGinn is a marine biologist, originally from Rhode Island, on assignment with the United States Antarctic Program.  At the University of California Davis Bodega Marine Laboratory, Nature studied interactions between the multidrug resistance cellular defense system and pharmaceutical pollutants in the early life history stages of echinoderms and echiuroid worms. She followed her Ph.D. with a postdoc focusing on the reproductive biology of the endangered white abalone.  Prior to her doctoral program, Nature served as a Sea Grant Fellow with the American Fisheries Society and organized an international scientific symposium on the impact of climate change on fisheries.
