Valerie Thompson

Dr. Valerie Thompson
AAAS Fellow
Directorate for Engineering
Office of the Assistant Director
Class of 2013

Dr. Thompson is a neuroscientist by training, with research expertise in movement disorders, early brain development, and drugs of abuse.  She received her Ph.D. in Neuroscience from the University of Cincinnati in 2010, and subsequently completed a postdoctoral fellowship at Emory University in Atlanta, GA.  A strong interest in promoting greater engagement between scientists and the public lead her to her current position in communications in the Engineering Directorate at NSF, where she is serving as an AAAS-sponsored Science and Technology Policy Fellow.
