Environmental Assessment (AGS 0959761)
The National Science Foundation (NSF) has prepared an Environmental Assessment (EA) to assess the potential impacts of the proposed expansion of the Owens Valley Solar Array (OVSA). After reviewing the EA including the Draft EA Public Review Comments and Responses the NSF has issued a Finding of No Significant Impact (FONSI).
The OVSA expansion project would be funded under the Major Research Instrumentation: Recovery and Reinvestment (MRI-R2) program. The proposed project is an extension of the OVSA radio telescope currently in operation on the site of the Owens Valley Radio Observatory (OVRO) in Inyo County, California. The proposed project, if approved, would be funded under American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 (ARRA).
This EA was prepared pursuant to the requirements of the National Environmental Policy Act of 1969, (NEPA), the President’s Council on Environmental Quality regulations implementing NEPA at 40 CFR 1500-1508) and NSF’s regulations implementing NEPA at 45 CFR 640.
