Prof. Sang-Mook Lee

Seoul National University

Using Information and Communication Technology to Empower and

Educate Youg Persons with Disability in STEM

Dr. Sang-Mook Lee, a Professor of Earth and Environmental Sciences at Seoul National University, is paralyzed from the neck down by injury. But that hs not stopped him. He continues to teach and pursue his research on tectonic plates and the formation of the world's oceans. Outside his academic work, he also has launched a new career teaching others with disabilities and advocating for the rights of disabled people. He received his bachelor's degree in Oceanography from Seoul National University, and his Ph.D. from Massachusetts Institute of Technology and Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution.
