Dr. Craig Fisher is a clinical psychologist who, prior to coming to the National Science Foundation (NSF), worked in independent private practice in Northern Virginia and at George Mason University’s Counseling and Psychological Services. He specialized in cognitive behavioral therapy for anxiety disorders.? In recognition of his clinical work, Washingtonian magazine named him a 2009 Top Therapist for panic disorder. After volunteering for various policy roles with his professional psychology organizations, Craig sought out a career shift into science and health policy.? Subsequently, he began a AAAS Science & Technology Policy Fellowship in NSF’s Office of Legislative and Public Affairs (OLPA). In OLPA, Craig engages various stakeholders about NSF-funded basic research, programs, and initiatives. He is especially interested in communications efforts on how social science research addresses national challenges.
