Focuses on the mechanisms by which the nervous system acquires, encodes, and processes information about the environment. This includes research on neural processes at the molecular, cellular, systems, and behavioral levels and psychophysical correlates of sensory neural processes. Topics include sensory transduction, neural coding and integrative mechanisms, and comparative aspects of sensory capabilities including vision, hearing, touch, taste, smell, equilibrium, electrosensation, magnetic sensation, and other senses.
