Getting SBE Science Out There |

| Abstract: |
NSF should not solely rely on researchers to generate broader impacts for their science. The academic ivory tower is very tall, and its walls are quite thick. Researchers simply arent trained to disseminate, nor to generate informed policy recommendations based on their scholarship. Instead, I argue NSF could greatly enhance the potential for its supported research to make societal contributions through also supporting bridge organizations to engage in syntheses and dissemination. The Center for Public Information on Population Research (CPIPR) at the Population Reference Bureau (PRB) is offered as an instructive example.
