FSS Data Entry Program Instructions

General Information


  1. To select menu items, use one of the following:

    1. arrow keys
    2. the <Tab> key
    3. the mouse, if one is attached to your system
    4. press the <ALT> key and the highlighted letter of the desired menu option (e.g., to select Find, press the <ALT> key and the letter "F" at the same time).

  2. To move from one field to the next use one of the following:

    1. arrow keys
    2. the <Tab> key (to move to the previous field, hold the key while pressing the key)
    3. the <ENTER> key
    4. the mouse, if one is attached to your system

  3. The data entry program has been customized for your agency. The data you reported for FY 1994 are included on the disk. These data will be used for trend analysis (Reports option).

  4. If you are adding data for an institution that is NOT included in the January 1996 Code Book for Compatible Statistical Reporting, you will be asked to provide the following information:

  5. The Reports option will allow you to generate three types of reports:

    1. a Summary report which lists the total FY 1995 and FY 1994 obligations for each type of institution to which your agency obligates money (you may choose whether you would like the report to include the FY 1994 data);
    2. a Detailed report which lists all FY 1995 and FY 1994 obligations for each individual institution to which your agency obligates money (you may choose whether you would like the report to include the FY 1994 data); and
    3. a Trend report which will produce a listing of all institutions with large increases/decreases in obligations when the FY 1994 and FY 1995 obligations are compared. You will be able to either correct the obligations or verify the increase/decrease in the Comments section.
