FSS Data Entry Program Instructions

Overview of the Main Screen

NOTE: The sample screens included in these instructions show the agency as "Department of Energy" (DOE). Your disk will have your agency name. The data shown are dummy data -- they do not reflect actual reporting for DOE.

When you first start the data entry program, there will be no data for FY 1995. The screen will appear as follows:

Screen 2   Screen 2

Your agency's code and name are displayed in the Agency section of the screen.

All of the "buttons" (options) that are available to you are shown in the Options section of the screen. If you have a mouse attached to your machine, you can simply "click" on the option to select it. If you do not have a mouse, either use the key to move from button-to-button or hold down the <Alt> key while pressing the highlighted letter of the desired menu option (e.g., to select Find, press the <Alt> key and the letter "F" at the same time).

The Institution/Messages section will show which institution, if any, you are viewing/editing. The institution's FICE code, name, city, and State will be displayed within these two lines. Messages will also be displayed within this section.

The Category of Support section shows the obligations, if any, you have reported to the institution shown in the Institution/Messages section.
