This report replaces Federal Science and Engineering Support to Universities, Colleges, and Nonprofit Institutions: FY 2005 (NSF 07-333) released in October 2007. After the close of the FY 2007 survey cycle, the Department of Defense (DOD) discovered a programming error that was made during the FY 2005–07 survey cycles and caused each advanced technology development dollar to be reported twice, as advanced technology development and also as major systems development. These detailed statistical tables contain corrected DOD data for FY 2005 and the most up-to-date data for all agencies. Also, because new data were available on science and engineering obligations to high-Hispanic-enrollment institutions, tribal colleges, and minority-serving institutions, tables 34–36 were added.
