Federal Funds Survey, Fields of Science and Engineering Research Historical Tables, Fiscal Years 1970-98
To provide data users with the most timely data possible, these historical data tables are being released several months earlier than last year's printed report and will only be available via the World Wide Web. The statistics in the tables are considered final and are not expected to be revised.
These tabulations result from NSF's Survey of Federal Funds for Research and Development, Volume 46, for fiscal years 1996-98, and from earlier surveys in this series. (See also Federal Funds for Research and Development: Fiscal Years 1996, 1997, and 1998, Volume 46.) They reflect the research portion of research and development (R&D) funding levels as reported by Federal agencies. Totals in these tables are given in obligations for research by field of science and engineering, and selected agency. The research obligations data are further categorized according to basic research and applied research by field of science and engineering.
The following tables are presented in Portable Document Format (.pdf).
