NAEP grade 8 mathematics scores are for public schools only. In 1992, Alaska, Montana, Oregon, Vermont, and Washington did not participate in NAEP. In 1996, Alaska, Arkansas, Iowa, Maryland, Michigan, Montana, New York, South Carolina, Vermont, and Wisconsin did not satisfy one or more school participation rate guidelines for the school sample(s).
