INTERNATIONAL COMPARISONS
- A longitudinal analysis of students who were tested in the earlier and later grades indicated that there was no evidence of improvement in the status of the U.S. students as they moved from 1st through 11th
grade. The researchers concluded that the achievement gap is real, that it is persistent, and that it is unlikely to diminish until, among other things, there are marked changes in the attitudes and
