Women were a lower percentage of scientists and engineers who were managers than of all scientists and engineers employed in business or industry in 2006.

  • Women were 19% of all managers and 15% of top-level managers in business or industry compared with 34% of all scientists and engineers in business or industry in 2006.
  • Women were 8% of engineering managers and 11% of natural sciences managers.
  • Only in medical and health services were women more than half of managers.
