In keeping with congressional requirements, this report presents data that focus
attention on women, on racial/ethnic minorities, and on persons with disabilities.
Persons in each of these groups have historically been underrepresented in science
and engineering. However, these groups are not defined and counted with equal
precision or ease. Hence, data considerations limit the analysis. For notes on
