For innovative research on computer operating systems that improve the flexibility and consistency of database file-system disk storage, allowing data repositories stored on disks to be read and modified more readily, for developing highly innovative and effective approaches to the teaching of operating systems that allow students with various learning styles to both learn the theoretical concepts and gain hands on experience, and for making these complex software systems more understandable and programmable by undergraduate and graduate students, researchers, and practitioners.
