Citation:

For developing a new, robust, autonomous actuator technology, which, when incorporated into micro-electro-mechanical systems (MEMS), could advance new devices for walking, manipulating or flying. The outcome of this work will have significant impact on the robotics field. Her education program for graduate and undergraduates allows students to formulate their own MEMS projects to gain research experience in a hands-on learning environment.
