SUMMARY:Introduction to the NSF X-Labs Funding Opportunity on Quantum Syste
 ms: Interconnects and Integrated Photonics
CONTACT:Kathryn Weatherly katweath@associates.nsf.gov
DESCRIPTION:The U.S. National Science Foundation Directorate for Technology
, Innovation and Partnerships (NSF TIP) invites you to attend the second o
f four introductory webinars on the recently released NSF X-Labs initiativ
 e. This second webinar will focus on the topic: Quantum Interconnects and
Integrated Photonics.  What: Introduction to the NSF X-Labs Funding O
pportunity on Quantum Systems: Interconnects and Integrated PhotonicsWhen:
Thursday, June 4, 2-3 p.m. EDTRegister hereNSF X-Labs in this topic wil
l focus on the research and development of technologies to enable next-gen
eration quantum interconnects, integrated quantum photonics and/or their s
upporting technologies. NSF X-Labs teams will target specific platform tec
hnologies that, if successful, will provide a roadmap for the integration
of second-generation quantum systems. NSF Tech Labs in this topic will aim
to develop foundational platform solutions that can form the basis for br
oad industry adoption.Additional upcoming NSF X-Labs webinarsQ&A for NSF X

and Integrated PhotonicsTuesday, June 30, 2-3 p.m. EDT\n\nAbout the series
 \n\nNSF X-Labs represent a bold, flexible, and outcomes-driven initiative
designed to build and accelerate novel platform technologies capable of un
locking entirely new sectors, including new fields of scientific inquiry.
The program will support full-time research and development (R&D) teams fo
cused on use-inspired scientific breakthroughs and foundational platform t
echnologies that traditional university and industry labs cannot easily ad
dress. NSF X-Labs teams will benefit from ambitious R&D goals, operational
autonomy, milestone-based funding, and the ability to engage across acade
mia, industry, national laboratories, and nonprofit sectors. NSF X-Labs wi
ll bet on ambitious, full-time teams working with urgency and purpose, and
provide them with the structure, resources, and flexibility necessary to
cultivate early-stage platform technologies that will accelerate breakthro
ughs and unlock entirely new sectors of the economy. For additional assi
stance with accessibility and reasonable accommodations, contact rarequest
