Reminder: RFI on Future Needs for Advanced Cyberinfrastructure

Please take note of the announcement below, for which the deadline is rapidly approaching. This is shaping up to be a widely influential process regarding cyberinfrastructure throughout the Foundation. It is very important that the needs of the Earth sciences community, and geosciences overall, be well articulated and broadly represented. Please take the time to consider responding—this is not a solicitation for proposals, it is a Request for Information to encourage community input, as written in the notice: “NSF invites both individuals and groups of individuals to provide input on the specific scientific and engineering research challenges that require advanced cyberinfrastructure for their solutions”.

Dear Colleague,
In January, NSF released a Dear Colleague Letter (DCL) - Request for Information (RFI) on Future Needs for Advanced Cyberinfrastructure to Support Science and Engineering Research (NSF CI 2030),
Responses to this RFI will directly inform the shaping of NSF’s investment plans for research cyberinfrastructure – advanced computing; data, software, and networking infrastructure; cybersecurity, and associated workforce development – to revolutionize the frontiers of all science and engineering domains over the next decade and beyond.
The response deadline is April 5, 2017, 5:00 PM ET. I strongly encourage you to provide a contribution so that the needs of your research discipline will be well-represented in NSF’s planning and prioritization in this critical area. The DCL provides full background and the a link to the required submission website, https://www.nsfci2030.org.
