Alumit Ishai received her Ph.D. from the Weizmann Institute of Science in Israel in 1996, for her work on visual perception and mental imagery. From 1996 to 2003, she worked at the Laboratory of Brain and Cognition at NIMH as a Research Fellow, where she used functional MRI to study the neural correlates of visual perception, imagery and memory. In 2004, Dr. Ishai accepted a faculty position at the University of Zurich in Switzerland, where she studied the neural correlates of face and art perception and memory. In 2006 she received the Young Investigator Award of the Cognitive Neuroscience Society. In July, 2014, Dr. Ishai joined the National Science Foundation as Director for the Cognitive Neuroscience Program.  Since 2015 she is an Adjunct Professor at the Depart of Neuroscience at Georgetown University Medical Center. For additional information, see:
