The Daniel K. Inouye Solar Telescope (DKIST) sits on the summit of the highest mountain on the island of Maui, Hawaii. It is located at the Haleakalā Observatories, along with a series of other telescopes, including PanStarrs, pictured to the right of DKIST in this image. DKIST is funded by the National Science Foundation and operated by the National Solar Observatory.
