Great American Solar Eclipse (Image 3)
In Arlington, Virginia, where the National Science Foundation (NSF) has its headquarters, staff gathered to witness the Great American Solar Eclipse on Aug. 21, 2017. Many wore the NSF-funded National Solar Observatory eclipse glasses. In Arlington, the eclipse reached almost 82 percent around 2:42 p.m., local time. The gathering served to mark another event as well -- the unofficial farewell to the agency’s Arlington building; between August and September, NSF is relocating to Alexandria, Virginia. The move will be complete by October.
