Coherent flow of electrons through quantum point contact formed in electron gas in heterostructure


The coherent flow of electrons through a quantum point contact, formed in a 2-D electron gas located inside a GaAs/AlGaAs heterostructure. The scanned probe microscope images on the outside agree with the theoretical simulations inside. The fringes are spaced by half the electron wavelength.
