REU Bangkok, Thailand (Image 2)

Summer undergraduate researcher Rachel Kagan and Thai student partner "Aum" Pannarin Chergklin, working in the organic chemistry lab of Dr. Poonsakdi Ploypradith at the Chulabhorn Research Institute, Bangkok, Thailand. The study focused on the synthesis of Lamellarin using solid support chemistry.

The students are participants of a National Science Foundation-supported program run by the University of California, Santa Cruz, called Research Experiences for Undergraduates (REU) in Organic Chemistry in Bangkok, Thailand (under NSF grant INT 01-23857). Program participants spend 10 weeks of the summer in Thailand working in different university research labs.
