REU in Bangkok, Thailand

Summer undergraduate researcher Lauren Young and Thai student partner "Poo" Uthaiwan Sirion, work on the synthesis of Pyrrolo [2,1-a]isoquinolines in the organic chemistry laboratory of Dr. Nopporn Thasana at the Chulabhorn Research Institute in Bangkok, Thailand. The students were participating in the NSF Research Experiences For Undergraduates (REU) Program in Organic Chemistry in Bangkok, Thailand, under NSF grant INT 01-23857.

The REU Program supports active research participation by undergraduate students in any of the areas of research funded by the National Science Foundation. REU projects involve students in meaningful ways in ongoing research programs or in research projects designed especially for the purpose. (Date of Image: July 2004)
