NPR Science Desk receives 2012 Public Service Award

Special Restrictions: This will respond to the request of National Science Foundation ("NSF") seeking the consent of National Public Radio, Inc. ("NPR"), to utilize the NPR logo ("Material") as part of a NSF press release and award's program guide featuring the National Science Board's Public Service Award being presented to NPR 's Science Desk ("Program"). By this letter, NPR consents to the use by NSF of Material, on the following terms and conditions: 1. NSF acknowledges that Material being used pursuant to this letter is copyrighted work of NPR; 2. The right granted to NSF by NPR is for inclusion of Material as part of an on-line press release announcing the award on the NSF website and in the program of the actual award presentation, and no other use whatsoever; 3. NSF will display in the on-line press release and the event's program under the logo the following credit: Courtesy of NPR. 4. NSF represents and warrants that nothing contained in the Program will be in any way derogatory to the Material or any person connected with the production thereof or depicted therein, NPR, any of its partners, or their respective officers, agents, representatives, employees, affiliates, parent or subsidiary companies. NSF will not use or permit the use of Material in any manner that could be construed as an endorsement of any product, service or person; 5. The right granted by NPR to NSF herein is for the benefit of NSF only, and may not be assigned to any other person or entity without the prior written approval of NPR; 6. The right granted by this letter is non-exclusive. All rights of every nature not expressly granted herein are reserved by NPR; 7. NPR warrants only that it has the legal right to grant the consent set forth herein, and this consent is accepted by NSF without other warranty or recourse against NPR, its successors or assigns; and 8. NSF shall indemnify and hold NPR harmless from all damages, costs and expenses, including reasonable attorneys' fees, arising out of or in connection with the use of the Material in a manner or form not authorized herein.

Images credited to the National Science Foundation, a federal agency, are in the public domain. The images were created by employees of the United States Government as part of their official duties or prepared by contractors as "works for hire" for NSF. You may freely use NSF-credited images and, at your discretion, credit NSF with a "Courtesy: National Science Foundation" notation.
