University of Colorado Denver associate professor Timberley Roane examines bacterial growth on Petri plates in her research laboratory in the school's department of integrative biology. Roane's research program investigates novel applications of environmentally isolated bacteria for the clean-up and detoxification of toxic chemicals. Roane is the faculty sponsor of the CU Denver American Indian Science and Engineering Society student club and works closely with the American Indian Student Services and with the Center for Identity and Inclusion. Her 2017 NSF INCLUDES award focuses on developing a first-of-its-kind network focused on environmental stewardship of indigenous lands.
